BNamericasBrazil's federal energy major Petrobras set a new daily record for the delivery of natural gas, spurred by soaring production from pre-salt fields.
In a statement, the Rio de Janeiro-based firm said it supplied 48.1Mm3 on July 14 – about 8.6Mm3 more than its daily average during the first quarter.
The company did not disclose the previous record-setting figure.
In May and June Petrobras posted natural gas production records of 65.4Mm3/d and 66.4Mm3/d, respectively.
Petrobras said the increase was due to higher output from pre-salt fields, located up to 7km below that Atlantic's surface.
In addition, the company has begun transporting gas from the P-58 and Cidade de Paraty platforms to the Cacimbas and Caraguatatuba processing units.
