Over the past weekend, three oil platforms from the Campos Basin were anchored at the Port of Rio de Janeiro. Those traveling through Guanabara Bay or the Rio x Niterói Bridge will have the opportunity to enjoy the view of all three platforms anchored simultaneously for at least one month.

According to Roque Pizarroso, the Manager of Aquatic Access at the Port of Rio de Janeiro, the demand for anchorage areas for oil platforms is on the rise. He stated, 'When contracts with Petrobras expire, several platforms are released from the exploration field at the same time. During their stay in the port, while they are out of operation, they undergo repairs, machinery and equipment updates, and possibly a change of crew.' After this deactivation period, the platform can then return to operation under a new contract.

The platforms anchored at the Port of Rio de Janeiro include the drillship ODN I, located in anchorage area 2F1A; the Ocean Courage platform, anchored in the 2F11 North area; and the NORBE VI platform, situated in anchorage area 2F11 South. All of these anchorage areas are suitable for the platforms' stay.

These complex anchoring operations took place between Friday (22nd) and Sunday (24th), with one platform anchored each day, involving professionals from PortosRio, the Brazilian Navy, and the Rio de Janeiro Pilots. Roque Pizarroso emphasized, 'This type of operation is highly technical and requires expertise from the professionals involved, but it was a success. Guanabara Bay provides sheltered waters that meet all the necessary depth, wind, and current requirements for the operation.
