Potigás represented by the CEO, Larissa Dantas, and the technical manager, José Augusto Rezende, presented this Thursday, 09/24, to the authorities and representatives of the hotel chain, bars and restaurants and also of the Preserve Pipa movement, the Project Pipa, which aims to take piped natural gas to one of the main tourist destinations in Brazil. The meeting took place in the auditorium of the Hotel Pipa Atlântico.

On the occasion, Potigás' technical manager, José Augusto Rezende, detailed the project developed for the region, which has already gone through stages such as drilling the sections, topography and whose executive project has been completed. One of the ways to make the arrival of piped natural gas in the region viable is to install 32 kilometers of gas pipelines from Goianinha to Pipa, passing through Tibau do Sul. There are still other possibilities, such as the virtual pipeline, which is the transport of gas through carts.

“The project is one of the challenges for Potigás to increase its customer base and universalize the population's access to Natural Gas, this is the essence of our concession contract. However, it is necessary to know the volume of gas intended for the region, so that the investment is justified ”, said José Augusto.

48 hotel companies in Pipa and Tibau do Sul have already shown interest in having piped natural gas and a general survey will be carried out to have an idea of the volume of consumption and with that, the definition of how the project will be made possible, if through implantation of the transport pipeline or virtually (trailers).

The president of Potigás, Larissa Dantas, highlighted the commitment of the Government of RN to support projects that benefit the population and bring economic and sustainable development.

“It is a directive of the government of Professor Fátima Bezerra to carry out work that promotes sustainable development, through the generation of clean energy, committed to the consumer, in the sense not only of expanding the population's access to natural gas, but working to offer it with reduced price ”, said Larissa.

The president of Potigás also spoke about the benefits of natural gas which, in addition to safety, comfort and economy, has a great impact on the preservation of the environment and the health of the population.

“This project will bring to the south coast of our state, modernity applied in various parts of the world, with guarantee of safety and health for the population. NG is a cleaner fuel and therefore less polluting, does not require storage space and the supply is continuous, there is no concern with changing the cylinder. As a representative of the State Government, I am excited to bring this project to you, ”said Larissa.

“We defend the development of the municipality and the coming of natural gas will combine development with sustainability, which is also a banner of our management”, declared Ieda Cortez, Municipal Secretary for the Environment, Urbanism and Urban Mobility.

In addition to the Environment Secretary, the mayor of Tibau do Sul, Modesto Macêdo, the Secretary of Tourism, Beth Bauchwitz, José Odécio, President of the Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry of Rio Grande do Norte (ABIH), participated in the meeting in Pipa , the director of tourism at Emprotur, Pinto Júnior and representatives of the Hoteliers Association of Tibau do Sul and Pipa (ASHTEP), Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants, Pipa Convention and the Preserve Pipa movement.
