Among the major currencies, the real is the one to have increased the most in value against the dollar in the last 12 months. The value of the American currency has dropped over 20% in the period.

Outside factors have had some influence in this result, but domestic factors, such as the reforms that will reorganise public accounts, were decisive for the Brazilian currency appreciation.

In 2017 alone, the dollar dropped 6% against the real. This Thursday (16), the currency stood at R$ 3.018 at the close of trading; on the first working day of January it was R$ 3.278.

The list continues with the Australian dollar (7.27%); novo sol, Peru (6.93%); Taiwanese dollar (6.19%); Canadian dollar (5.47%); Korean won (5.11%).
