Sergipe Oil & Gas 2026 began this Wednesday (29), bringing together authorities, executives, business leaders, and experts to discuss the future of Brazil’s oil, gas, and energy industry. At a strategic moment for the state, the event reinforced Sergipe’s leading role as one of the country’s main frontiers for natural gas expansion, driven by the investments planned for the Sergipe Deepwater Project.

At the official opening, Brainmarket CEO and Sergipe Oil & Gas organizer Eduardo Aragon welcomed the participants and highlighted the event’s consolidation as a platform for integration among the government, operators, suppliers, investors, and academia, strengthening the debate on the challenges and opportunities facing the energy industry.

The ceremony was marked by the signing of technical cooperation agreements between the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the Government of Sergipe, the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the Regulatory Agency for Public Services of the State of Sergipe (Agrese), and sector institutions. The documents aim to strengthen the natural gas market, promote regulatory harmonization, and increase the industry’s competitiveness, consolidating Sergipe as one of the country’s leading energy hubs.

Sergipe Bets on Gas Industrialization

In the opening keynote, Petrobras’ Executive Director of Exploration and Production, Sylvia dos Anjos, presented an overview of the industry’s challenges in the face of the energy transition and highlighted the strategic role of the Sergipe Deepwater Project in the company’s planning. According to her, the project represents one of Petrobras’ main investments in exploration and production and is expected to place Sergipe in a prominent position in Brazil’s natural gas production, increasing the energy supply and strengthening the country’s energy security.

During the ceremony, Governor Fábio Mitidieri emphasized that the state is experiencing a historic moment and that the challenge is to transform its energy potential into economic development.

“We do not want to be merely the Uber of gas, extracting this wealth and sending it to other states. We want to attract industries, add value, and generate jobs here.”

According to the governor, the state’s resumption of control over Sergas and the proposal to create a sovereign wealth fund are part of the strategy to ensure that the wealth generated by the sector is converted into permanent benefits for the people of Sergipe.
