Sistema FIRJAN is participating at the OTC Houston 2016, the largest oil and gas fair and thermometer of the oil and gas market in the world. Despite the scenario of low oil barrel price and even with a temperature drop in Houston, which used to be higher over this period, it is expected the start of a recovery in this market. It might have been a decrease up to 30% in the number of participants, comparing with the previous year, but visually exhibition area remains crowded and very active.

In the conference program, the highlights for the first day were the luncheon by the president of IBP (Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute), Jorge Camargo, entitled ‘Pre-Salt Brazil: Strategic Thinking with a Pragmatic Approach to Boost Investment', and the panel 'The Pespective of IOC Investments in Brazil's Oil and Gas Business', which merged with notes made by lecturers of opportunities for Brazil. These include revitalization of mature oil fields, new exploratory frontier of the Equatorial Margin, and development and production of pre-salt, which currently has been only 20% explored.

One of highlights by Sistema FIRJAN, with delegation headed by its president, Eduardo Eugenio Gouvêa Vieira, was the meeting with SBM Offshore – Philippe Barril and Bruno Chabas, and the general director of ANP (Brazilian National Agency of Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels), Magda Chambriard, to present the project FPSO Fast4Ward with higher oil processing capacity exceeding the conventional limit of 150,000 and reaching 200,000 barrels per day.
