A pioneering project in Santa Catarina, the structuring network implemented by SCGÁS in Lages started operating on July 20th. The first customer to consume piped natural gas was a gas station, which until then needed to store the input, but now has continuous supply of the pipeline.
The supply of this type of isolated network works with the modal GNC (compressed natural gas) - SCGÁS has contracted a logistics company to transport natural gas from a compression base in Indaial to the mountain municipality, where the gas is decompressed and injected into the network to supply consumers.
“We deepened the understanding of this technology in a technical mission carried out in Portugal in 2016 and decided to implement it in Santa Catarina. The success of the operation is an achievement for Santa Catarina, as innovative projects like this can facilitate the internalization of the natural gas supply and influence the best regional planning ”, celebrates SCGÁS president, Willian Anderson Lehmkuhl.
Project phases
SCGÁS invested approximately R $ 7 million to implement approximately 11 km of network in this first phase of the project. In addition to the first customer, another gas station should start consumption in the coming days.
A new stage of works in the municipality already has authorization from Aresc to be carried out. The network will be expanded to meet new markets, according to demand. Two industries already have a contract signed with SCGÁS, which continues to map potential customers from all segments.
