The expansion of the piped natural gas distribution network is progressing in the Region of Hydrangeas. Currently, the front of works is on Estrada da Serra Grande, between Três Coroas and Gramado. This is one of Sulgás' priority projects and will make it possible for the network to reach the main tourist hub in the state in the second half of next year.

Between 2020 and 2021, approximately R$ 20 million will be invested in the construction of 31 km of steel network, between Três Coroas and Gramado. This year, R$ 5.3 million is foreseen in 10 km of gas pipeline, and 4.3 km have been launched by August.

The expansion in the region started in 2019, when the pipeline network extended to Três Coroas, coming from Igrejinha. The stretch already completed serves a textile industry and a gas station, which resells CNG and also uses fuel to generate energy for the establishment.

“The installation of the natural gas network improves the infrastructure of the region, diversifying the available energy matrix and being able to attract new investments, which benefits the entire population”, says the CEO of Sulgás, Carlos Camargo de Colón.

The versatility of natural gas allows the energy source to be integrated into the production processes of different segments, and can be used as a fuel, as an input or as a source for generating electricity. In addition to industries, natural gas can supply vehicles, commercial and service establishments, and homes.
