Vidya Technology, a Brazilian deeptech specialized in intelligent solutions for asset integrity management, has signed a long-term international contract with a U.S.-based operator engaged in oil exploration and production along the Gulf Coast. The company's Digital Fabric Maintenance (DFM) application, part of Vidya’s platform, will be implemented by the American company to enhance offshore asset integrity management.

“This contract marks a pivotal moment in Vidya’s journey, as entering the U.S. market allows us to advance the internationalization of our operations,” said Jorge Luiz Seleme Mariano, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Vidya. “The DFM application is at the forefront of transforming offshore asset management, delivering greater safety for both offshore and onshore operations in the oil and gas industry,” he added.

Digital Fabric Maintenance autonomously identifies corrosion and other structural anomalies in assets. The tool integrates artificial intelligence, 3D environments, and Reality Capture to detect, map, quantify, and classify anomalies in industrial assets such as floating production systems (FPSOs) and offshore platforms. Integrated with other products in Vidya’s portfolio, DFM will enable the operator to efficiently manage offshore asset integrity workflows in the Gulf of Mexico. The platform is accessible via both web and mobile devices.

Tested and Validated Technology

The American company recently conducted a pilot test of the Brazilian solution, validating its ability to improve integrity management and choosing to deploy it across its floating hydrocarbon production units. The operator expects to achieve a 22% reduction in protective coating budgets, in addition to optimizing the maintenance and inspection cycle.

“The integration of 3D visualization on mobile devices is a major breakthrough, allowing offshore personnel to access critical data more conveniently and efficiently directly from their tablets. Furthermore, orchestrating workpacks within the same interface has shown remarkable results in operational agility,” said Janaina Albino, Customer Success at Vidya. “This innovation will enhance maintenance practices and streamline operations, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient performance of floating production systems in the Gulf of Mexico,” she added.

A technical paper on this technology is being presented at OTC 2024, in the session “Digital Transformation in Offshore Oil & Gas: Leveraging AI, Digital Twins, and Automation for Enhanced Operations,” scheduled for tomorrow from 11:10 to 11:28 a.m. The paper, titled “Digitalization of the Corrosion Identification Process Using Digital Technologies in Mature Fields,” will be presented by Lincon D'Aquila, Maintenance and Integrity Manager at Brava Energia, alongside co-authors Otavio Correa (CEO - Vidya) and Jorge Mariano (VP US - Vidya).
