Trade between China and Portuguese-speaking countries grows 40.41% from January to April

Trade between China and Portuguese-speaking countries recorded year-on-year growth of 40.41% from January to April, totalling US$34.172 million, according to official Chinese figures released by Forum Macau.

 

In the first four months of the year, China exported US$9.755 billion (+19.56%) to the eight Portuguese-speaking countries and imported goods worth US$24.416 billion (+50.93%), leading to a trade deficit of US$14.661 billion.

 

The value of trade between China and Brazil in the period under review was US$24.381 billion (+40.50%), with China selling goods worth US$7.678 billion (+29.57%) and bought goods in the amount of US$16.639 billion (+46.19%).

 

China’s trade with Angola increased 61.83% to US$7.602 billion, with the country buying goods worth US$597 million (+ 27.71%) and placing products with Chinese companies worth US$7.005 billion (+65.60%).

 

Portugal ranks third with trade with China in the amount of US$1.619 billion (-5.11%), with Chinese sales of US$1.035 billion (-5.11%) and purchases of US$583 million (+43.61%).

 

Trade with Mozambique from January to April reached US$564 million (-0.80%), following Chinese exports of US$377 million (-8.03%) and imports of US$ 186 million (+17.99%).

 

Trade between China and the other Portuguese-speaking countries – Cabo Verde (Cape Verde), Guinea Bissau, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor-Leste – amounted to US$67 million in the period.
