Tullow Oil has authorization to drill an exploration well in the North Sea. The location is in Norwegian license PL550, 7.5 km (4.7 mi) northwest of the Troll field.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate sanctioned use of the semisubmersible Borgland Dolphin for the well after the rig completes wildcat 6407/1-7 for Wintershall in PL475.
This will be the first well on Tullow’s license, awarded in 2010, which takes in a 302-sq km (117-sq mi) portion of block 31/1 and a 166-sq km (64-sq mi) portion of block 31/2.
