Another event marking the second day of Marintec was organized by the British government. The "UK Innovation Session in the Maritime Sector" brought together important international players to address new technologies for the Brazilian market and to encourage the development of strategic partnerships between countries.

The launch of the professional education program for purchases and supplies for the maritime industry, promoted by the International Association for Marine Purchasing and Supply (IMPA), an institution based in England, has initiated the round of innovations. According to the representative of the association in Brazil, Ismael Santos, the program aims to serve all professionals in the supply chain, with online courses lasting up to 12 months.

"In the courses, employees have the opportunity to learn about various aspects of this segment, such as logistics management, human resource management, strategic logistics planning, among many other topics," he says.

Santos points out that this is not IMPA's only initiative for the national market. There are also face-to-face training aimed at the maritime market: "In 2016 we promoted the first group of this specific training. The membership was so great that we will repeat this action in 2018, when we will attend a new class in March, "he adds.

Petrobras also participated in the session hosted by the United Kingdom and highlighted the company's objective of increasing the number of maritime and offshore support vessels. According to the manager of Petrobras Logistics Management, Diego Moreira, the company has been studying for some time to replace the helicopters that transport the employees to the offshore platforms by vessels that do the same, since the aircraft have very high costs.

Another strategy announced by Petrobras in the event is to invest in boats that carry all types of cargo at the same time. "We are moving into a market moment that requires larger vessels, so that fewer trips are made, but twice as many transported cargoes as today."
