Usina Batatais is no longer a member of Copersucar, the world’s largest sugar-and-ethanol trading company. The group, with revenues of R$588 million in 2013 and one of the founding partners of Copersucar, has decided to run its business independently, Valor has learned. Usina Batatais is the second group to leave Copersucar in this 2013/14 season.
Aralco, which is under court reorganization, announced its “departure” last month. Together, the two groups' crushing totaled 11 million tons of sugarcane in the last season. Copersucar and Batatais declined to comment.
