This month, the Coruripe Plant received authorization from the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) to certify the efficient production of biofuels by the federal government's Renovabio (National Biofuels Policy) program. Three plants in Minas Gerais and the head office in Alagoas, which produce ethanol, obtained authorization to issue and sell Decarbonization Credits (CBios).

Coruripe units, together, reached an average of 94% of eligibility for the program, a number higher than the reference target established by the group (90%). Based on the average value of US $ 10 per Cbio, which has been estimated in the market, the company will be able to obtain credit of R $ 25 million for a projected amount of 500 thousand CBios. "This reinforces the historic commitment of Coruripe and its sugar cane suppliers to the protection of the environment", says the company's president, Mario Lorencatto.

The survey showed that the units located in Minas Gerais achieved scores above 95% of eligibility to the program, with the potential to increase this number to 100%. The achievement, according to Lorencatto, is the result of the efforts of the company, our suppliers and the dedication of employees. "This is the moment to congratulate everyone who helped directly and indirectly in this step, especially the area of management system, which is managing the project within the organization, the agricultural control, IT and quality control group, which were highly demanded in the database and documents ", he declares.

Coruripe's president also highlights Renovabio as an advance for the sugar-energy sector and a priority theme for the company, "because it represents a benefit for society and the environment". He points out that the program must contribute to Brazil fulfilling its CO2 reduction commitments.

About Usina Coruripe - Usina Coruripe, controlled by the Tércio Wanderley group, headquartered in Coruripe (AL) and founded in 1925, is the largest company in the sugar-energy sector in the North / Northeast. It is also among the largest groups in the sector in Minas Gerais and is one of the 10 largest in Brazil.

With four units in Minas Gerais (in Iturama, Campo Florido, Carneirinho and Limeira do Oeste), one in Alagoas (Coruripe) and its own railway terminal in Fernandópolis (SP), Usina Coruripe has a crushing capacity of 15 million tons of sugar cane. It produces more than 1 million tons of sugar, about 500 million liters of ethanol - with a storage capacity of about half of production - and sells renewable energy, produced from burning biomass.
