In view of the current scenario of advancing the new coronavirus pandemic (covid-19), Votorantim announces that it will adopt, through the Votorantim Institute, measures to contribute to Brazilian society in the fight against the further spread of the virus and its effects.

The Votorantim Institute will act on two fronts: redirecting projects currently underway in the municipalities where Votorantim companies are present, with a focus on actions to combat the new coronavirus; and additional financial support of R $ 50 million to public authorities, health institutions and private entities of civil society, in the purchase of items such as test kits, respirators and other essential equipment.

The initiatives will have technical and medical support from Beneficência Portuguesa de São Paulo, an organization historically supported by Votorantim.

Projects of the Votorantim Institute

The Votorantim Institute and the Votorantim investee companies currently conduct more than 300 projects in the five regions of Brazil. In the coming weeks, most of these initiatives will be redirected, within their areas of execution, to focus on combating covid-19.

This first front of action will be based on the identification of the needs of the most vulnerable and older age groups, involving prevention with the dissemination of knowledge and also assistance to the population, through the distribution of hygiene and subsistence items, in addition to donation of safety equipment for health professionals.

Additional donation

In the second front, Votorantim will contribute R $ 50 million, in addition to the annual social investment already made by its companies, to support public authorities, health institutions and private entities of civil society in the purchase of equipment such as respirators and masks, in addition to tests and other hospital support items for health professionals and the population. The intention is that part of the money will be invested in small and medium-sized cities, which will be prioritized according to the greatest vulnerabilities in the municipalities, anticipating the reaction to the spread of the pandemic in the interior of the country.

With these actions, Votorantim reaffirms its role as a citizen company committed to the country and the Brazilians. The challenge of facing the effects of the covid-19 is enormous, but Votorantim reinforces the belief that, with the union of efforts of public authorities, companies and civil society, working in a coordinated and in line, this health crisis will be overcome .
