WEG's wind power contracts amount to R$530m

The contract with Alupar, announced on Wednesday, is the biggest one.

With the contract to supply wind turbines for Alupar, WEG’s backlog in wind power reached R$530 million, said Harry Schmelzer Jr., CEO of the manufacturer of electric motors and electronic components. In an interview with Valor PRO, the real-time news service of Valor, Mr. Schmelzer said that the amount includes the five contracts signed in this segment since the company entered this business three years ago. 
The contract with Alupar, announced on Wednesday, is the biggest one. Under the agreement, WEG will deliver, by the end of 2015, 46 units of 2.1MW each, plus the provision of operations and maintenance services for ten years.
