Consolidated data from the Monthly Bulletin of the Electric Energy Trading Chamber - CCEE, indicate that, between January and November 2016, the generation of wind energy in commercial operation in the National Interconnected System - SIN increased by 53.4%. Wind power plants produced 3,667 average MW in the period compared to the average 2,390 MW generated in the previous year.

The total generation of the System's plants, in turn, reached 61,543 average MW between January and November 2016, an amount 0.3% higher than that registered in the same period of last year, when 61,333 average MW were produced. In this way, wind energy accounted for 6% of total generation.

The hydroelectric source, which includes small and large hydroelectric plants, also had an increase in generation and recorded an average of 45,371 MW, a volume of energy 6.5% higher than that produced in 2015, when the power plants generated 42,616 average MW. Meanwhile, thermal generation (12,505 average MW) had a performance 23.4% lower than last year, when the power plants generated 16,327 average MW.

Wind Power by State

In wind power generation by state, CCEE's consolidated data indicate that Rio Grande do Norte is the largest producer in the country with a generation of 1,589 average MW in November 2016, an increase of 82% over the same period of the previous year. Next, the state of Ceará appears with 1,038 average MW (+ 68%) produced and Bahia with 684 average MW (+ 87.6%) in the period.
