The free energy market has registered, throughout 2020, the highest monthly average of consumer adhesions since 2016. From January to June this year, about 143 agents per month migrated to the Free Contracting Environment - ACL, compared to an average of 118 in 2019. Data are from the Electric Energy Trading Chamber - CCEE.

With this movement, the free market ended the first half with 7,812 qualified consumers, an increase of 22.9% in comparison with the same period last year. The result is mainly a reflection of the 25% growth in the number of special consumers. The volume of free consumers also grew, around 9%. The calculations already discount the dismissed agents in the period.

Only in June, the number of lawsuits in progress to join the free market grew 41% compared to the same period last year. In the month, 1,049 migration processes were registered, most of which were special consumers, with 796 new orders being analyzed.

In addition to consumers, CCEE agents are generators, distributors, self-producers and traders. In June alone, 161 new agents joined the organization, with 129 special consumers and 11 free consumers, in addition to four new traders and 17 plants classified as independent energy producers.

Of the total consumers who joined the free market in June, 102 have a load of up to 1 MW. Another 22 have a load between 1 MW and 1.99 MW and 11 adhesions have a load greater than 2 MW. The Services branch was the one that registered the highest percentage of adhesions.

At the end of the month, there were 23 retailers qualified to operate. Another 21 requests are under analysis.
