Wood Group GTS has completed the major maintenance service and gas turbine optimization of Jamaica Public Service Company's (JPS) Bogue Power Plant, located in Montego Bay Jamaica. Wood Group GTS executed a hot gas path inspection and provided the necessary parts and repairs, completing the outage event in only nine days, meeting JPS' required maintenance schedule.
Wood Group GTS also provided its EcoValueTM compressor water wash technology, which will be installed by the customer for two GE Frame 6B gas turbines, which will increase its efficiency at the combined cycle plant. In similar applications, Wood Group GTS customers have experienced improved power output of up to 2.1 per cent on a 2x1 power block, resulting in additional revenue and fuel cost savings.
"Wood Group GTS' maintenance leadership team assured our contractual and service requirements were met. The completion of this hot gas path inspection in only nine days was the fastest JPS has ever seen performed on our unit," said Ruben Thomas, station manager of JPS. "This service delivery was done successfully through Wood Group GTS' proven process, work packages and organizational support. We are confident that the compressor water wash technology will improve the gas turbine efficiency and generate a rapid return on our investment."
"We're proud to be a service provider for JPS. The success of this outage affirms our commitment to service excellence and helping our customers meet their performance needs. In addition to the cost-effective outage work, JPS will benefit from the long-term sustained improvement in output and efficiency gained from the EcoValue water wash system," said Frank Avery, president of Wood Group GTS - Power Plant Services.
