The World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) General Assembly in October has news. WECP, the entity that gathers 23 major cities of the oil-producing world, will bring the event to Rio de Janeiro for the first time, with a special focus on business development. The objective is to enhance the results of WECP towards something beyond the exchange of best practices and technical cooperation, through conferences and networking events.

For that, Rio Negócios is including in the event’s schedule a special edition of Rio Conferences for WECP, which will discuss three themes: Oil & Gas; Urban Transformation; and Research & Development. The conferences will offer discussions on the context of the O&G industry in Brazil and worldwide, with the view of international companies and authorities. Also on the agenda are the opportunities in urban transformation for the cities, as well as public policies and practical applications of R&D in service of innovation in the sector.

Rio Negócios expects to gather 400 participants from 150 companies connected to the oil and gas sector, especially operators, suppliers and representative and academic institutions. There are 15 confirmed government and commercial delegations from the member cities, 10 of them led by Mayors.

The annual WECP meeting will take place between October 25 and 28, with events in the GE Global Research Center, at UFRJ Technology Park, and Riocentro.
