The 2015 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Brasil, taking place 27–29 October in Rio de Janeiro, announces the inaugural Spotlight on New Technology SM Award to be presented to FMC Technologies 28 October at Pavilion 3 in Riocentro at 1600 hours.

“The Spotlight on New Technology SM Award recognizes the extraordinary inventiveness occurring in the E&P industry which furthers development of offshore resources in safer and more efficient ways,” says OTC Brasil Spotlight Committee Chair Steve Balint. “We are pleased to introduce this award for exhibitors at OTC Brasil 2015 to highlight some of the game changing technologies on display at this conference.”

FMC Technologies receives the award for producing its Shape Memory Alloy Fittings for Subsea Equipment. The criteria for the award was:

• New - less than 2 years old

• Innovative - original and capable of developing the offshore E&P industry

• Proven - through full-scale application or successful prototype testing

• Broad Interest - broad appeal for the industry

• Significant Impact - provides significant benefits beyond existing technologies

“I congratulate the award recipient FMC Technologies,” says OTC Brasil 2015 Chairman João Carlos de Luca. “Breakthrough technologies applied in deep waters of Campos Basin have now shifted to the even deeper and more challenging environments of the Santos Basin to develop pre-salt giant fields.
