Brazil's state-run energy major Petrobras has resumed oil production at the PNA-1 platform after it was temporarily shut down because of a spill.

The leak was caused by a damaged drainage pipe following a fire on the unit, according to the Sindipetro NF oil workers' union.

Sindipetro said the pipe had been affected by a "sudden depressurization" of gas.

Earlier Petrobras said it had shut down the platform to meet federal safety guidelines.

The company added that it had informed authorities and launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and subsequent leak.

It was the second time in less than two months that the PNA-1 platform had been hit by fire.

The unit operates in the Campos basin's Namorado field, off Brazil's southeast coast.
