Electricity is a critical and high-consumption factor for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data technologies, primarily due to the intensive operation of data centers. According to the International Energy Agency, while traditional data centers consume between 10 and 25 megawatts (MW) of energy, the demand for AI centers can exceed 100 MW—equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 100,000 households.

This will be one of the topics discussed during the second edition of iBEM – The International Meeting on Brazil's Energy Market, an international event that will bring together the sector's key players from March 24 to 26, 2026, at the Salvador Convention Center (Bahia, Brazil).

Registration is free and can be completed on the event's bilingual website (www.ibemenergy.com). The program will be highly diverse, starting with the Conference, which will address current and future challenges in the energy sector with a focus on "integration and diversification for energy security." There will also be a Business Roundtable, where buyers and suppliers of products and services meet in pre-scheduled short meetings.

The event will also feature an Innovation Arena, an Investment Arena, and an ESG Arena (covering environmental, social, and governance topics), as well as an Academic Congress focused on energy-related R&D projects by students, professors, and researchers.

iBEM26 will also include training courses for students and energy sector professionals. Another attraction will be the Commercial Arena, an ideal space for companies to showcase their latest products and services.

The Technical Section will allow professionals in operations and maintenance to present their best practices and technological challenges.

Future Talents is another activity at iBEM26, where companies present their internship programs and hiring processes. Additionally, there will be Technical Visits, allowing participants to explore the operations of various energy companies in Salvador and its metropolitan area. Registrations for many of these activities are now open.

In its first edition, iBEM featured representatives from 25 countries, and organizers expect this number to be surpassed in 2026. The estimated attendance is 4,000 people over the three-day program.

iBEM26 is organized by three Bahia-based energy companies: Austral, BrainMarket, and Eolus. Visit the website for more information.
