CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s leading supply chain management companies, has furthered its partnership with the SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation, a Brazilian NGO. As a result of measuring its C02 emissions and calculating usage in Brazil, CEVA will set off these emissions by way of a contribution to the NGO's forest restoration program “Future Forests.”

In line with the company's holistic business approach to sustainability, CEVA in Brazil has developed a plan to control its use of natural resources in the country. By calculating its carbon dioxide emissions, CEVA can translate this value into the planting of thousands of Brazilian native seedlings in the Atlantic Forest biome stretching along Brazil's Atlantic coastline. The Atlantic Forest biome is a permanent preservation area which is controlled and monitored by SOS Mata Atlântica.

"CEVA’s partnership with SOS Mata Atlântica and the Future Forests program has enabled us to motivate our team to play their part in the next stage of our environmental program,” said Alcides Francisco, Supervisor of Occupational Safety and Health at CEVA Brazil. “Our commitment to sustainability helps us raise awareness with employees around the importance of protecting our fauna and flora. Additionally, it helps us drive innovations and creativity in our operations - from warehousing to transportation, from solution design to procurement policy. Such improvements ultimately help us better serve our customers."

Rafael Bitante Fernandes, Forest Restoration Manager at SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation, adds: “The partnership with CEVA Logistics and the Future Forests program contributes to conservation of biodiversity and to mitigate the climate change in one of the most threatened biomes in the world, restoring forests and reconnecting people to a healthy environment.”

In addition to emissions monitoring over the last two years, CEVA Brazil has also introduced measurements for the use of water, paper, wood, cardboard and solid waste at CEVA-run contract logistics sites across the country. Those readings are then evaluated by CEVA on a monthly basis to calculate the exact consumption of all natural resources.
