Offshore Future Program will prepare 16 professionals for the job market and will offer scholarships for the students' exclusive dedication.
T&B Petroleum/Press OfficeA partnership between Equinor, the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP), and SBM Offshore, launched this Monday (23) during ROG.e, will train 16 professionals each year to work in the Brazilian offshore market. The Offshore Future Program aims to meet the growing demand for qualified offshore workers by providing training for four months, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. There is the possibility of hiring after the completion of the course.
"We believe that local value is created as we contribute through the company’s business and initiatives to the development of our society. Thus, we see the opportunity, through this partnership with IBP and SBM Offshore, to make a positive impact in our sector in Brazil. We recognize the need for qualified labor in our industry, and this is a way to address that issue, benefiting our company and our peers," says Victor Alves, Training and Development Specialist and Leader of Equinor University in Brazil.
"It is with great pride that we establish this partnership with Equinor and SBM, reinforcing IBP's commitment to promoting the progress of the energy sector, focusing on developing a competitive and sustainable industry. Through the Offshore Future Program, we will be able to meet an urgent demand in the sector by training young professionals who will be essential to sustain the evolution and innovation in offshore. Contributing to the training of this new generation is a fundamental action to make Brazil's oil and gas industry a global reference in competitiveness and sustainability," says Claudia Rabello, Executive Director of IBP.
Jonas Lobo, General Manager of SBM Offshore Brazil, declared: "We are excited to be part of this partnership, as SBM Offshore is committed to continuing to invest in the Brazilian market. The country plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the Oil and Gas industry, given its abundant natural resources. SBM is a key player, capable of providing clients with the best tailored technological solutions and top talents."
Julien Dainotto, HR Manager of SBM Offshore, added: "The country has a vast pool of talent working in the Oil and Gas industry. Today, we have Brazilian employees at SBM who have acquired knowledge and experience in projects and operations in Brazil, and we want to maintain this trend. We believe this represents an excellent opportunity for the next generation."
A total of 353 hours of training will be offered in four modules, covering theoretical subjects such as safety and environmental aspects, subsea systems, and pipelines, as well as practical training where students can improve their skills in equipment alignment and operation, basic maintenance, and inspection, among others. The theoretical classes will be held at IBP's facilities in downtown Rio, while practical sessions will take place at the Duct Technology Center (CTDUT), which has five available laboratories as part of its infrastructure.
The initiative requires exclusive dedication from its participants and, therefore, provides a scholarship during its duration. The call for applications will be launched by the end of October, and more information can be obtained on the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas website (https://www.ibp.org.br/). To participate in the selection process, candidates must have completed a technical degree in mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical, oil & gas, or automation fields; possess a valid professional registration (CFT) from a recognized and accredited institution; have intermediate English skills; and be at least 18 years old.
