The production of natural gas in Brazil in december 2013 was a record. According to the Bulletin of the production by Brazilian Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), volume of approximately 81.6 m³ / d (million cubic meters per day) exceeded the average of 80.0 m³/ d June 2013. Total production also grew by 7.1% compared to December 2012 and 3.2% in the previous month.
Oil production in the country was approximately 2,109 MMbbl/ d (million barrels per day), an increase of approximately 0.2% compared with the same month in 2012 and 1.4% in the previous month. The production of oil and natural gas was 2,622 Mboe/ d (thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day).
Pre-salt
The pre-salt production was a record in december with 346.1 Mbbl/ d of oil and 12.1 million m³/ d of natural gas, totaling 422.1 Mboe/ d, an increase of 2.5% over the month above. This production was coming from 28 wells of the fields of Baleia Azul, Caratinga and Barracuda, Jubarte, Linguado, Lula, Marlim, Voador, Marlim Leste, Pampo, Pirambu, Sapinhoá and Trilha.
Gas flaring
The burning of natural gas in december was around 4.3 m³/ d, an increase of approximately 0.2% from the same month in 2012 and 14.2% compared to the previous month. The use of natural gas for the month was 94.7%.
In the middle of the year 2013, Brazil reached a record in reducing the burning of natural gas, with utilization of 95.4% of the volume produced. These are the highest utilization rate and the lowest annual volume of gas flared since the establishment of the ANP in 1998.
