Hallin Marine, a Superior Energy Services company, disclosed Thursday that it has completed an urgent project at Bualuang oil field in B8/38 concession off the coast of Thailand following damage to subsea structures. The work centred on the inspection and repair of the mooring and riser system at a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facility. The project was managed from Hallin’s SOV Windermere.


An initial third-party ROV (remotely operated vehicle) inspection in partnership with Rubicon Offshore International was commissioned by the client to determine the nature and extent of any damage, Hallin was then tasked to provide saturation diving services for further inspection and to stabilize the installation before conducting repairs. The work entailed the unraveling of flexible risers, control umbilical and mooring wire, the removal and subsequent replacement of the oil production riser assembly and other subsea structures, resulting in a safe and efficient return to production. The project commenced Jan. 6 and production resumed Feb. 13.
