Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has approved Statoil’s request to use a new compressor on the Kristin field semisubmersible platform in the Norwegian Sea.

Gas from the field is exported via a pipeline to the Åsgard Transport system and onward to Kårstø in Rogaland, western Norway. Kristin’s condensate is transferred to the Åsgard C vessel for storage and shipment.

Reservoir pressure has fallen faster than expected, leading Statoil to take action to reduce inlet pressure in the process facility. This involves installation of new equipment, including the new compressor module, and replacement/upgrading of existing equipment and systems. All are expected to be in service in June.

In the southern Norwegian North Sea, PSA has authorized ConocoPhillips Skandinavia to use OSM Offshore’s accommodation jackup Haven during completion and commissioning of the Eldfisk 2/7S platform, part of the Eldfisk II project.

Eldfisk, in block 2/7, started production in 1979 and has been developed using four installations. Eldfisk II is designed to extend the field’s life until 2050.

The new platform will be bridge-linked to the existing field center in a water depth of just under 70 m (229 ft). Haven will work at the complex from May 2014 to August 2015.
