In a new format, Macaé Energy 2026 began on Tuesday (3/17) at the Jornalista Roberto Marinho Convention Center, bringing together more than 60 oil and gas companies from across the country, along with a technical congress featuring over 50 hours of content. The event runs until Thursday in the city of Macaé, in Northern Fluminense.

“The current global context reinforces the importance of strengthening our local production chains and making better use of our capabilities for growth and for energy security, which is a priority for all nations,” said the president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan), Luiz Césio Caetano, in his speech at the event’s opening ceremony.

Caetano also highlighted the importance of oil as a fundamental pillar for the planet’s economic stability. “This, however, does not prevent us from looking toward diversification and complementarity of energy sources, by focusing on natural gas and energy integration,” added the federation’s president.

More than US$ 24 billion in investments in the region

Petrobras president Magda Chambriard, in a video message, emphasized that the company will invest US$ 24.2 billion in the region. According to her, this will include three new FPSOs, more than 150 wells, 2,230 kilometers of subsea pipelines, and the modernization of facilities.

“We estimate that the Campos Basin will surpass production of 1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2034. The Macaé Energy event is the ideal platform for strengthening relationships within the supply chain, as these partnerships drive innovation, create jobs, and reinforce the regional economy,” said Magda.

Francisco Roberto de Siqueira, president of Firjan Northern Fluminense, stressed that Macaé Energy has become an important milestone in strengthening the city of Macaé, considered the energy capital of the state of Rio de Janeiro and a strategic hub for the future of the national energy sector. He noted that the region is an industrial base with globally active companies that drive the growth of this high‑excellence industry and are capable of contributing to the expansion of both local and national energy markets. “We know that we still have much to produce in the pre‑salt, post‑salt, and Mature Fields, with well‑deserved emphasis on the Campos Basin,” he stated.

Also present at the opening ceremony were the president of Firjan’s Oil and Gas Business Council and PRIO director, Emiliano Fernandes; REDEPETRO‑BC coordinator, Thadeu Paravidino; Equinor’s Vice President of Operations, Paulo Van Der Vem; federal deputy Eduardo Pazuello; Macaé’s Secretary of Economic Development, Rodrigo Vianna; and the deputy mayor of Macaé, Fabiano Pascoal.

Macaé Energy is organized by Firjan, carried out by Open Brasil, sponsored by the Municipality of Macaé, Petrobras, Equinor, and Prio, with strategic partnership from RedePetro‑BC.
