Approved on Tuesday night (3/16) conclusively in the Chamber of Deputies, Bill 4476/2020 is the new legal framework for natural gas. Now, he goes on to the presidential sanction, which should happen quickly allowing to expand the execution of undertakings of great relevance for the country. With the regulatory improvements in the new legislation, the volume of investments is expected to increase in the activities of the gas market until final consumption in industrial plants.

Firjan's study “Rio a Todo Gás” highlights the potential for expanding demand in the state of Rio de Janeiro, which should materialize with the new business environment. In addition to electricity generation projects, gas consumption may increase by up to 13 million m³ / day with the resumption of industrial activity, the implementation of CNG projects for heavy vehicles and the prospect of new industrial plants. The document also points to an investment amount of more than R $ 80 billion in Brazil.

The Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro evaluates that the projects, both already in progress and those with interest already mapped, should contribute to a more permanent recovery of the economy. In addition to expanding benefits to several sectors directly or indirectly linked to the natural gas market and transforming the industry in Rio de Janeiro.
