The world’s largest and most prestigious global gas event, the 27th World Gas Conference (WGC 2018) is coming to Washington D.C. in June 2018. The event marks the first time in WGC’s 86 year history that it will be held in a country that is both the world’s largest gas consumer and gas producer, and for whom the latest data show a record breaking size of its gas resource base (Potential Gas Committee report, July 19, 2017).

Held under the patronage of the International Gas Union (IGU) and the American Gas Association (AGA), WGC 2018 receives unrivalled industry support and exceptional participation, with over 40 global energy industry leaders already confirmed as keynote speakers. The call for abstracts to complete the rest of the program is now open, and the event is expected to draw more than 12,000 representatives from the entire natural gas value chain - the most definitive global gas industry gathering of influential leaders, policy-makers, buyers, sellers and experts to date.

Under the theme "Fueling the Future" the event aims to solidify the pivotal role of natural gas as a critical source of energy that is clean, abundant, economical and sustainable. The WGC 2018 program benefits from the unrivaled expertise of more than 1,000 industry specialists from around the world, and 500 high-level speakers will present their views on the most timely and topical, technical, commercial and strategic, issues and opportunities facing the natural gas industry.

Among the growing list of confirmed speakers are CEOs of international energy companies, global gas experts, distinguished energy officials, policy makers and government representatives from across the globe. With 11 months of exciting developments still to come, the event promises to be an unmissable opportunity.

The Call for Abstracts is an opportunity for industry leaders worldwide to be part of the official five day conference program and showcase their expertise to the global gas industry. Authors are invited to submit abstracts relating to topics defined by the IGU Committees and Task Forces, and submissions can also be entered to win the prestigious IGU Global Gas Award or a WGC 2018 Innovation Award. The Call for Abstracts will close in just six weeks’ time on September 1, 2017.

“There is a critical need for industry participants and policy makers to collaborate to advance the role of natural gas in the global energy mix. As the global voice of gas, the IGU seeks to improve the quality of life by advancing gas as a key contributor to a sustainable energy future,” commented Jay Copan, Executive Director, WGC 2018 “The World Gas Conference provides the perfect platform for the industry to showcase innovation and technology, as well as providing an unrivalled opportunity to network, collaborate and communicate.”
