On the first day of Rio Oil & Gas 2018, 24, Açu Port Operations signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Port of Houston. The partnership enables commercial synergy between the largest port, industrial and energy complex in Latin America and one of the most important ports in the United States, number one in imports and in export tonnage.

 

About the Açu Complex

In operation since 2014, the Açu Complex, located in São João da Barra (RJ), has great vocation for the O & G segment and moves oil, iron ore, coal, coke, bauxite, general cargo and projects, among others . Porto is still authorized to operate vehicles and containers. The Complex also has a back area dedicated to the installation of business units in the maritime and industrial sectors. Açu Port currently has 11 companies in operation: BP Prumo, Açu Port, B-Port (Edison Chouest Group), InterMoor, NOV, TechnipFMC, Wartsila, Açu, with 40 km² of environmental reserve. Oil, Ferroport, Anglo American and Dome.

 

About the Port of Houston

The Port of Houston is a 40-km long complex with approximately 200 private and public industrial terminals located along the Houston Ship Chanel. Each year, more than 247 million tons of cargo pass through the Port, transported by more than 8,200 vessels and 215,000 barges. The Port of Houston is also the # 1 breakbulk port in the US, handling 52% of all project cargo among Gulf Coast ports. Add to that the fact that Houston is an important center for the petroleum and petrochemical industries around the world, being the US headquarters for several energy companies.
