Yesterday morning (13), document the installation of the first refinery was signed in Carmópolis. The ceremony was led by the governor of the state of Sergipe, Jackson Barreto (photo), who stressed that investment reinforces the energy capacity of the region, which has other sources of energy such as natural gas, ethanol, biomass, wind energy and hydropower.
With investments of R$ 120 million, the refinery will be built by the REF Brazil, a partnership between companies Energio and Costa Global. The project will be in the county of Carmópolis, major oil basin in the state, and will generate 250 direct and indirect jobs. The planned initial capacity of processing is up to two modules of 5 bpd able to produce four fuels to supply the domestic market (gasoline, diesel, fuel oil and bunker, as it is called fuel for ships). The expected operating revenue is R$ 480 million.
Currently, the Sergipe´s production is processed in Bahia. With a refinery near the oil field exploration, costs of production and distribution of fuels will be reduced, which may cause a decrease in Sergipe prices for the consumer.
The venture will be named the former governor Marcelo Deda - who died in December last year - and will be operational in 18 months. The president of REF Brazil and former refining director of the Petrobras, Paulo Roberto Costa, highlights the competitive advantage Carmópolis refinery.
REF Brazil
The company REF Brazil will build three more minirefinarias in Brazil, in the states of Alagoas, Ceará, and Espírito Santo. The investment in each unit 5000 barrels is R$ 120 million, and the amount doubles if the capacity is 10 thousand barrels per day. Considering the estimated for each module and 5000 barrels that can double value, REF may invest up to R$ 960 million in Brazil four minirefinarias are built to full capacity.
