Brazil is the guest country of the 16th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF), to be held in the city of Guangzhou in October 2019, according to the Brazilian Ministry for Industry, Foreign Trade and Services.

The Ministry added that a delegation from the Brazilian government was sent to China last week to evaluate Brazil’s participation in one of the largest trade fairs in the world focused on small businesses, with around 300,000 visitors and companies.

The Brazilian delegation was received by the Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Chen Liangxian, and the secretary general of the CISMEF Organising Committee, Zhong Xuanhui, and was informed of the benefits and structure offered to the invited country, as well as the required trade offs.

Organised by the National Development and Reform Commission, State Administration for Industry and Commerce and the government of Guangdong Province, China’s first SME fair was held in October 2004 during the Guangzhou Fair.

Since then, 15 trade fairs have been held and the countries and entities invited were France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, Australia, Thailand and Russia, Ecuador, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mexico, Malaysia, Cote d’Ivoire and India, Africa South and UNIDO (United Nations Organization for Industrial Development).
