The President of CEGÁS, Hugo Figueirêdo, and the Technical and Commercial Director, Flávio Barros, visited today, in Eusébio, the project that will bring piped natural gas to the Fresenius Kabi and Relife industries, which develop activities aimed directly or indirectly at combat of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Fresenius Kabi factory, a global healthcare company specializing in medicines and technologies for infusion, transfusion and clinical nutrition, is located in Aquiraz. The unit employs 800 people and produces vaccines, serum bottles and high-volume parenteral solutions, which are distributed throughout the country and exported to Argentina. Already Relife, also located in Singapore, specializes in making packaging for food products.
The work started in February will take natural gas through a six-kilometer carbon steel pipeline. In addition to serving both industries, the venture will raise and stabilize pressures in CEGÁS 'distribution network and enable the expansion of the customer base in the region.
Figueirêdo says that he made a point of monitoring the progress of the works because of the importance of the project and to signal that CEGÁS is working in the construction of the necessary infrastructure to strengthen the productive sector, mainly in the segment that acts directly or indirectly in the fight against the coronavirus .
"We have reorganized the construction schedule and prioritized those related to the supply of activities related to coping with the coronavirus, and to ensuring the continuity of the natural gas distribution service, which is an essential activity," said Figueirêdo.
According to Figueirêdo, CEGÁS continues to work, strictly following safety rules with its employees and suppliers, so that, at that moment, “people can stay in their homes in comfort, health and safety”, he said.
Last weekend, CEGÁS created a task force, worked day and night and managed to take piped natural gas to the Leonardo da Vinci hospital, in Aldeota, which started operating this Sunday, the 22nd, with 230 beds and 30 beds ICU to assist patients with coronavirus in the State.
CEGÁS is a mixed economy company and started operations in 1994 with the mission of providing piped natural gas and energy solutions for the development of Ceará. With a network of gas pipelines throughout the state, CEGÁS provides this important source of energy for industries, commerce, vehicles and homes.
In addition to being more economical, safe, clean and comfortable than other energy sources, since its supply is continuous, about 13% of the gas distributed by CEGÁS is completely renewable and is generated by the biogas produced in the garbage landfill in the Metropolitan Region from Fortaleza.
