Deep Seed Solutions, a Brazilian company that develops digital solutions for optimizing complex engineering processes, is making its first appearance at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), which begins today in Houston, Texas (EUA). It will present its FLOCO® (Field Layout Concept Optimizer) software, which automatically generates offshore oil and gas production system concepts, based on a wide range of components, equipment, systems and resources available in this industry.

FLOCO® organizes and ranks the concepts generated, based on objective economic indicators (CAPEX, OPEX, VPL, TIR e PAYBACK), to assess the options for the development and construction of complex subsea oil and gas production arrangements. “Through a metaheuristic modeling, FLOCO®, in just a few hours, generates thousands of technically feasible conceptual options, thus enabling a better assessment of options for the development of the field and a minimum two-thirds reduction in the time devoted to conceptual engineering. In other words, it is a strategic decision-making support tool”, affirms Deep Seed’s CTO, Celso Noronha. “The conceptual engineering phase is the adequate moment for seeking to obtain significant cost reductions (CAPEX and OPEX) and maximize the return of investment (NPV and ROI), through the structured assessment of a great variety of architectures and concepts”, complements the CTO.

The Brazilian company is taking a special version of the specialist FLOCO®, system to OTC 2018, which will be presented to visitors at the company’s stand (booth 31) in the Brazilian Pavilion. The commemorative version for the 50th edition of the OTC, called FLOCO 4.0, marks the official launch of four advanced modules of this solution, aimed at generating concepts based on the use of subsea processing, active pipe heating, injection of chemicals and project phasing. The four advanced modules were developed in partnership with Repsol Sinopec Brasil, with the support of the National, Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), in a demonstration of the innovation and competitiveness capacity of Brazilian companies in the development of new technologies.

Deep Seed COO Leandro Basilio will present important results related to the economic performance of offshore projects achieved using the specialist FLOCO® system in the technical session “The Digital Optimization of Offshore Exploration and Production: The Next 50 Years”, on May 1st. Leandro Basílio and Celso Noronha are authors of the paper “Integrated Design Computational Model Applied to O&G Offshore Field Development”, which is co-authored by Matheus Passos and Débora Calaza, of Deep Seed Solutions, and Anderson Leocadio da Nova and Roland Daly, of Repsol Sinopec Brasil.
