Electricity consumption increased for the fourth consecutive month, ending August with a load of 66,235 average megawatts, a volume 3.9% higher compared to the same period last year, according to preliminary data from the Biweekly InfoMarket Bulletin of the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE).

In the regulated market, which includes residential and small business customers, 41,179 average MW were consumed, an amount 5.0% higher. The remaining 25,056 average MW, a quantity 2.2% higher, was supplied to the industrial sector and medium to large companies that purchase their energy in the free market.

According to CCEE, the warmer days have influenced higher use of cooling equipment, especially in the regulated segment, while increased production in almost all monitored economic sectors, combined with a significant migration of new consumers, has led to higher demand in the free market environment
