The key role of technology and energy sectors for the advancing of Brazil's digital transformation. This is the main theme of FIEE Smart Future and FIEE Smart Energy, events that will be occur until Friday (on July 26th), at the São Paulo Expo. The fairs bring in a single space the most important brands and experts of the Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Connectivity and Energy industries in Brazil.

With the presence of authorities, the kickoff of the fairs received representatives from the Ministries of Environment, Mines and Energy (MME) and Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTI), as well as Abinee, BRACIER and Reed Exhibitions Alcântara Machado, organizer of FIEE, and from brands such as ABB, ANATEL, Bosch, Cisco, Schneider Electric, Siemens, SKA, TIM and Yaskawa Motoman.

“The future has come, and this new digitization scenario are placing the electro-electronics industry in the leading role of the economy as a whole and reinforces its strategic role for the development of Brazil,” said Abinee CEO Humberto Barbato, at the opening ceremony of the Abinee Tec 2019 Forum. “The digital revolution is spreading to various segments of the economy. Thinking about a world with millions of objects connected is increasingly palpable with new scanning technologies. This concept represents a new reality that is already present in the energy sector,” says Barbato.

The executive highlights the characteristics of Brazil as a potentially attractive market for investments and says that any company wishing to be a global leader must be present in the Brazilian market, generating quality jobs, income and technological innovation.

Reed Exhibitions Vice President Alcântara Machado, Paulo Octavio, says that FIEE Smart Future and FIEE Smart Energy were specially designed to meet market needs and bring new dynamics to Brazil's industry and energy sectors. “We expect to receive more than 50,000 buyers in these four days of the event, stimulating sectors that make a difference to the development of our country,” he says.

For BRACIER and Eletrobras President Wilson Ferreira Junior, the event is essential to bring the electric sector closer to the Brazilian industry. “We face challenges that will promote a true technological revolution, and we are sur that innovation has a strategic role in advancing the sector,” he says. “We should not fear these changes. Our country should be proud to have one of the cleanest and most renewable energy matrices in the world,” he says.

SENAI SP Regional Director Ricardo Figueiredo Terra points out that Brazil is experiencing a great moment of connectivity, essential for industries to remain competitive. “We are living the fourth industrial revolution and we are well articulated to help companies of all sizes in these advances, which are fundamental to Brazil's success. The best way to predict the future is to create it,” he says.

For the Secretary of Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Paulo Alvim, FIEE Smart Future and FIEE Smart Energy show the power of technology and energy for Brazil. “This sector is fundamental and responsible for generating jobs, income and taxes, being at the center of digital transformation,” he says.

The Secretary of Energy Planning and Development of the Ministry of Mines and Energy Reive Barros dos Santos emphasizes that the event is fundamental for discussing the issue of energy transition and technological innovation. “All the projects that we are developing will incorporate new strategic technologies for consumers,” he says. The secretary announced during the event that the Ministry will launch, in December of this year, a plan that will encourage the expansion of the electricity sector for the next 10 years, motivating growth for the next decades.

André França, Secretary of Environmental Quality of the Ministry of Environment, says that the fourth industrial revolution are bringing new challenges for the sustainability of the country. “With these challenges in mind and the conviction that the main environmental problems are in cities, we focus directly on this point,” he says, highlighting the launch of a new environmental agenda with six structuring fronts. “The electronics sector is very prominent in the issue of waste management and has already articulated several actions to help,” he says, anticipating the announcement, soon, of a national sectoral agreement for reverse electronics logistics.

The main companies, entities and representatives of important associations are actively participating in the fair and the lectures. Confirmed experts include Paraguay's Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, Carlos Zaldivar; ANDE's Director of Energy Resources, Felipe Mitjans; the Secretary of Renewable Resources and Electricity Market of Argentina and President of CACIER, Juan Garade; Ecuador's Ministerial Advisor, Victor Orejuela; ISA Director General, Peruvian Energy Network, Carlos Mario Caro Sánchez; OLADE's Director of Integration, Access and Energy Security, Medardo Cadena; Siemens Brazil President and CEO André Clark Juliano; and Schneider Electric Brazil President Marcos Matias.
