The Brazilian participation in the Offshore Technology Conference – OTC 2022 was highlighted by the official launch of the publication “Portfolio of Investment - Opportunities in Brazil”. Organized by ApexBrasil, with support from EPE, Firjan SENAI SESI and ONIP, the document presents information on the dynamics of the oil and gas market in the country. The study also provides a breakdown of potential projects for development in Brazilian territory, highlighting opportunities in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Firjan SENAI SESI supported ApexBrasil with an extensive mapping of projects in terrestrial areas and in territorial waters of Rio de Janeiro. After a refinement of information, the selection presents the projects with the lowest degree of uncertainty and the greatest potential for realization.

Firjan, on the other hand, publishes broader material on the projects mapped in the state of Rio de Janeiro, including initiatives still in preliminary studies and projects related to the integration of the oil and gas market with new energies; in addition to the development potential of existing industrial plants. In total, more than 45 potential projects are mapped, where at least 50% of these are related to projects to support the energy and renewables transition.

Among the highlights, the potential of natural gas is visible, with more than 15 projects listed. These projects support the development of solutions for the insertion of new renewable energies, with gas being an energy source capable of sustaining the energy transition. It is not by chance that more than 10 potential renewable energy projects are foreseen, with a strong presence of offshore wind.

“The message reinforced during the OTC is that the decarbonized future is not a future without oil and gas. But, yes, a future in which technological solutions and cooperation between countries act directly to achieve the necessary goals for sustainability”, said Raul Sanson, vice president of Firjan.
