Speaking during the inauguration ceremony for the new Chairperson of the Parliamentary Agriculture Caucus (FPA in the Portuguese acronym), President Michel Temer said this Tuesday (14 February) that the government plans to simplify the tax system in Brazil. The new leader of the Caucus is deputy Nilson Leitão.

“We want to simplify the country's tax system; we want to cut red tape, as Agriculture Minister Blairo Maggi did for his portfolio. And for that, we need to rely on your support - and more than your support, on your enthusiasm," the president said at the ceremony, held in Brasilia.

Temer added that he is counting on the celerity of the country's parliamentarians to help rebuild the country, which Congress has already shown with the approval of the public spending ceiling amendment, the secondary education reform and the admissibility of the Pension reform.

“When our government thought that it would take two, two and a half years to carry out essential reforms for the country, with support from the National Congress - and particularly with the enthusiasm of the members of the Parliamentary Agriculture Caucus - suddenly we find that in six or seven months we had already approved the spending ceiling, secondary education reform, dealt with the oil issue and referred the modernisation of labour laws for voting," he said.

The FPA has contributed with enthusiasm and support since the beginning of his administration, thanked the president, who considers the caucus "an extremely productive group," that brings together people who participate in an activity that supports the Brazilian economy.

“When we from the government say that Brazil has a direction, the first direction I look to is exactly that of agriculture, of agribusiness”.
