Industrial production grew in 14 of the 15 locations surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), from May to June this year. The highest increases were observed in the states of Amazonas (65.7%) and Ceará (39.2%), according to data from the Monthly Industrial Survey released today (11).

 

The states of Rio Grande do Sul (12.6%), São Paulo (10.2%) and Santa Catarina (9.1%) also had growth above the national average (8.9%). Completed the list of states with high production Minas Gerais (5.8%), Paraná (5.2%), Pernambuco (3.5%), Pará (2.8%), Goiás (0.7%), Rio de Janeiro (0.7%), Bahia (0.6%) and Espírito Santo (0.4%).

 

The Northeast Region, the only one to have the production of all the states calculated together, grew 8%. Mato Grosso was the only place with a drop (-0.4%).

Other types of comparison 

In comparison with June 2019, 12 of the 15 surveyed places had a drop in production, with emphasis on Espírito Santo (-32.4%) and Ceará (-22.1%). The three places with high were Pernambuco (2.8%), Mato Grosso (1.6%) and Goiás (5.4%).

 

In the first half of the year, there was a reduction in 13 of the 15 locations, in comparison with the same period of the previous year. The biggest falls were observed in Ceará (-22%), Espírito Santo (-20.8%) and Amazonas (-19.6%). Rio de Janeiro (2.3%) and Goiás (0.9%) were the only places with high rates.

 

In the accumulated for 12 months, falls were observed in 12 locations, especially Espírito Santo (-19.6%). The states with high production were Rio de Janeiro (4.4%), Goiás (2.2%) and Pará (0.4%).
