ExxonMobil announced Juan Lessmann (photo) as president of ExxonMobil in Brazil to replace Carla Lacerda, who is retiring after 35 years with the company.

Juan Lessmann will be responsible for the sustainable growth of affiliates. An ExxonMobil employee for more than 22 years, he has held outstanding positions in exploration and production around the world, including leadership positions in the USA. More recently, Lessmann was a project executive for the Cod field, operated by Equinor.

"The corporation recognizes the potential of our valuable assets and the talent of our people in Brazil," says Lessmann. "I feel privileged to join the organization in Brazil to continue building the relationships and advances achieved under the leadership of Carla".

Lacerda, who has served in the role since 2018, has 35 years of contributions in various positions at ExxonMobil. Most of his career was dedicated to developing business in the country, where he held the position of president on three different occasions.

"ExxonMobil in the country has a robust and high quality portfolio with the best team imaginable in our chemical business, in the global business center and in exploration and production," said Lacerda. "I am sure that our affiliates will continue their excellent work positioning the company for success."

First company in the sector to establish itself in Brazil and with continuous operations since 1912, currently ExxonMobil has approximately 1,600 employees in the country in the areas of chemicals, in São Paulo; exploration and production, in Rio de Janeiro; and in a global business center in Paraná.

In the exploration and production area, the company has a stake in 28 offshore blocks, 17 of which are operators. It is also the operator of 60% of its useful area (approximately 10,000 km2). In the past three years, it has invested US $ 4 billion in the acquisition of these top-tier assets.
