The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) released, last Friday (11/25), a series of studies, reports, presentations and technical notes resulting from activities carried out within the Brazil-Japan Cooperation: Energy Efficiency in Industry and Buildings . The documents present results achieved, since 2019, by the cooperation of the MME with the Ministry of Energy and Industry (METI) and the Energy Conservation Center Japan (ECCJ) of Japan. Joint actions are aimed at energy conservation in industries, buildings and equipment, with a focus on labeling, energy efficiency certification and laboratory training.

The work carried out by the Energy Planning and Development Secretariat (SPE) of the MME aims to incorporate regulatory actions to promote energy efficiency in Brazil. “Not only for energy-consuming equipment produced in the country, but also for the building sector, since Japan has already gone through a series of stages in the implementation of policies that promote energy conservation,” explains the advisor. technician from the General Coordination of Energy Efficiency of the SPE/MME, Alexandra Maciel.

Among the cooperation's activities is the improvement of standards and processes for labeling electrical equipment, such as air conditioners and refrigerators. “We received strategic support for internalizing the new air conditioning efficiency test procedures, through training and laboratory qualification. Japan also produced guides for the implementation of the energy conservation benchmarking methodology in the industry”, adds Alexandra.

There are also actions to help Brazil in the construction of public policies to encourage “zero energy” buildings, which manage to meet energy demands without depending on the external supply of electricity. The idea, according to SPE, is to bring part of the technical and normative experience of the Toprunner program in Japan to Procel Selo Ouro.

Access the new page and learn more about the activities and results achieved.
