Innovation platform of the oil and gas industry company seeks partners to offer solutions for operational challenges
Press ReleaseAfter analyzing 106 startups interested in participating in the Ocyan Waves Challenge innovation program, 17 companies were selected for the second phase, called Pitch Day.
This stage will take place on June 25 and, this year, it will be virtual due to the pandemic and social isolation. On this day, participants will present in more detail solutions found for the operational challenges defined by Ocyan.
“We were surprised by the large number of registrations, since this year the challenges are more technical. Despite this complexity, we noticed that there are several qualified and specialized startups in the country. This stage is very important due to the interaction between startups and Ocyan. It is the moment when teams from areas that need solutions will have their first contact with entrepreneurs. On Pitch Day everyone will be able to get to know each other, clarify doubts and questions, make suggestions and better evaluate the proposals” explains Rodrigo Lemos, Offshore Production Director and leader of Ocyan Waves.
In 2019, Ocyan launched the Ocyan Waves Challenge program to search for startups that could present operational solutions to several areas of the company and, after a year of intense work, five startups were hired and today the results can already be verified and monitored.
This year, five new challenges were chosen: i) real-time analysis of fluids from the BOP (Subsea Blowout Preventer); ii) self-service in warehouses; iii) digital twin from BOP; iv) fault prediction and hose management for Topdrive; and v) intelligent alarm management system.
Startups from all over the country were able to register and the search for diversity, which is part of Ocyan's values, was represented among the participants. “The good news is that we have found entrepreneurs all over Brazil, far beyond the Rio-São Paulo axis,” says Lemos.
For the challenge of real-time analysis of fluids from BOP (Subsea Blowout Preventer) the selected ones were: Bahri Inteligência Industrial; Eireli EPP; H2METRIC; TSMP Gestão de Ativos and XMachina.
For self-service in warehouses, those that are selected for Pitch Day are: GYTH Desenvolvimento de Sistemas Ltda.; LEDCORP TAU LAB; SOLENTECH - SOLUTION, ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY; and TCIA – CFK.
For the BOP digital twin challenge, the selected ones were GoEPIK; UBIVIS; Vidya Technology; and PhDsoft Tecnologia Ltda.
In Topdrive's fault prediction and hose management, only one fit what the company seeks: 2SOLVE.
And finally, for the intelligent alarm management system, the ones that advanced in the process was MURABEI DATA SCIENCE; CONCERT Cloud; Delfos Intelligent Maintentance; and Smart-Tech.
By regions, the Southeast and the South are represented by seven startups each; the Midwest with two and the Northeast, one, totaling 17 startups.
The next steps of the Ocyan Waves Challenge will be Immersion, in which startups with greater adherence to the company's challenges, after analyzing the proposals, will move forward until the pilot project, when the solutions will be developed. Startups approved after the pilot project become suppliers to the company.
