Optimism: Foreign diplomats believe in improving Brazilian economy by 2020

Foreign diplomats are optimistic about the performance of the Brazilian economy next year. This is what research shows by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) with the diplomatic representations based in Brasilia. Among respondents, 44.1% believe that the economy will improve. Only 8.8% say conditions are expected to worsen in the next 12 months.

 

The research points to the assessment of diplomats about the reforms that are most important to Brazil. The most relevant reform for 37% of respondents is labor reform. To 25%, it is the tax reform. Another 21% say it is political reform, and 18% say it is administrative reform. In addition, the majority (79.4%) of respondents consider Brazil's membership of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) important or very important.

 

The survey also shows that the Ministries of Justice and Public Security and Foreign Affairs, both with 47.1% of citations, are the areas of the Brazilian government with which diplomatic representations have a closer relationship. Thirdly, with 33.4% of the answers, comes the Ministry of Economy. In fourth place on the list, with 26.5% of mentions, is the International Securituy Office, and in fifth, with 23.5% of citations, appears the Ministry of Agriculture.

 

The survey heard 34 diplomatic representations based in Brasilia.
