Pre-salt production in September totaled approximately 1.677 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, an increase of 6.6% over the previous month. The production, from 82 wells, was 1.351 million barrels of oil per day and 52 million cubic meters of natural gas per day and corresponded to 49.8% of the total produced in Brazil.

The "pre-salt" wells are those whose production is carried out in the geological horizon called pre-salt, in fields located in the area defined in section IV of caput of article 2 of Law 12,351 / 2010.

Total Production

Oil production in Brazil in September totaled 2.653 million barrels per day (bbl / d), an increase of 3% compared to the previous month and a reduction of 0.7% compared to the same month in 2016.

Natural gas production totaled 114 million cubic meters per day (m3 / d), an increase of 1.9% in relation to the previous month and of 3.2% in relation to September 2016.

Total oil and natural gas production in the country was approximately 3.370 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe / d). The complete bulletin is available at: http://www.anp.gov.br/wwwanp/publicacoes/boletins-anp/2395-multilage-multi-production-production-natural-products.

Gas Burning

The use of natural gas in Brazil in September reached 97% of the total volume produced. Gas flaring totaled 3.4 million cubic meters per day, a decrease of 0.4% compared to the previous month and 5.7% compared to the same month in 2016.

Producer fields

The Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas. It produced, on average, 799 thousand bbl / d of oil and 33.2 million m3 / d of natural gas.

Maritime fields produced 95.3% of oil and 79.3% of natural gas. Production took place in 8,115 wells, 725 of which were seaborne and 7,390 were terrestrial. The fields operated by Petrobras produced 93.8% of the oil and natural gas. Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of producing wells: 1,091. Marlim Sul, in the Campos Basin, was the maritime field with the largest number of producing wells: 92.

The FPSO Cidade de Itaguaí, producing in the field of Lula, through 6 interconnected wells, produced 188.4 thousand boe / d and was the UEP (Stationary Production Unit) with higher production.

Other information

In September 2017, 306 concessions, operated by 25 companies, were responsible for domestic production. Of these, 79 are maritime concessions and 227 are terrestrial. It is worth mentioning that of the total of the production concessions, two are in exploratory activity and produce through Long-Term Test (TLD), and seven are related to contracts in areas containing marginal accumulations.

The average API grade was 26.9, and 35.2% light oil production seen (> = 31 ° API), 49.6% medium oil (> = 22 API and <31 API) and 15.2% oil heavy (<22 API).

The mature terrestrial basins (fields / long-term tests of the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 129,300 boe / d, of which 103,900 bbl / d oil and 4 million m3 / d of natural gas. Of this total, 124.3 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced by Petrobras and 5 thousand boe / d for concessions not operated by Petrobras, of which 349 boe / d in Alagoas, 2,318 boe / d in Bahia, 60 boe / d in the Espírito Santo, 2,104 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte and 199 boe / d in Sergipe.
