On the first day of Sergipe Oil & Gas 2025, authorities, investors, and professionals gathered at the AM Malls Convention Center in Aracaju to attend an event that has already established itself as one of the main showcases of Brazil's energy sector.

With over 120 exhibitors and approximately 5,000 participants, Sergipe Oil & Gas reaffirms the state’s prominent role on Brazil’s energy map. The latest edition of the event highlights the strength of an agenda that brings together operating companies, suppliers, universities, startups, and public institutions around opportunities and solutions for the oil, gas, and energy transition sectors.

The official opening ceremony took place in the One Energy plenary hall, with the presence of Governor Fábio Mitidieri, Senator Laércio Oliveira, Secretary Valmor Barbosa (Sedetec), SEBRAE-SE Superintendent Priscila Felizolla, as well as other authorities, representatives from Petrobras, Carmo Energy, Eneva, IBP, SEBRAE, ONIP, financial institutions, regulators, and state and federal agencies.

During the event, Governor Fábio Mitidieri announced major advancements for the state's energy sector. Among the highlights, he announced the postponement of the Sergipe Deep Waters (Seap) project auction to September, aiming to broaden the range of proposals and ensure greater competitiveness. The project involves the exploration of oil and gas fields in deep waters, with the potential to produce up to 18 million cubic meters of natural gas per day and 240,000 barrels of oil per day.

Additionally, the governor announced the signing of two strategic contracts with the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) to carry out technical studies aimed at expanding the state’s port infrastructure and developing policies for workforce training and local job creation focused on the decommissioning of offshore platforms. These actions reinforce the government’s commitment to strengthening the regional production chain and attracting investments.

“An event like this gives us the chance to engage with key players, to engage with the market, to showcase our potential, to show why Sergipe is the place to be right now, and with that, create more opportunities for the state,” said the governor.

For Senator Laércio Oliveira, the new edition of Sergipe Oil & Gas demonstrates the strength of Sergipe’s energy agenda. “This is a very special moment — a new edition, larger than the last one. It gives us the confidence that we are on the right path. But more than that, Sergipe is an attraction — it is a place that draws global attention, not just from Brazil. We have delegates from various countries here, observing what’s happening in Sergipe and what lies ahead.”

Diverse Programming with Energy at the Core

The first day’s agenda featured simultaneous panels in the ESG, Innovation, Commercial, and Technical arenas. In the main plenary, the opening panel addressed “Perspectives and Opportunities for the Oil, Gas, and Energy Transition Sector in Sergipe,” moderated by the Brazilian Petroleum and Gas Institute (IBP). The event also served as a convergence point for public policy, business environment development, and regional growth.

“This event strategically positions the Sergipe government in the country’s energy future. It is an opportunity for institutions, professionals, civil society, academia, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to come together to discuss the oil and gas sector,” said Valmor Barbosa, Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology (Sedetec). Sedetec is the agency responsible for formulating and coordinating public policies for socioeconomic development, innovation, and science and technology in the state.

Initiatives such as the Sebrae Onshore Hub, the ESG Space, and the presence of universities provided an integrated approach to the theme, connecting innovation, sustainability, and income generation. “Sebrae’s contribution, through the Sebrae Onshore Hub, is present in the coordination, topic curation, all benchmarking work, and identification of projects with social, environmental, governance, and territorial development impact,” explained Aline Lobo, manager of Sebrae’s Business Environment Unit – Oil, Gas, and Energy.

The business fair and opportunity roundtables brought together companies from different regions of Brazil. “This is a great opportunity to present our portfolio directly to company buyers. We’re able to have honest conversations, understand our clients’ needs, and offer the best solutions in a targeted way,” highlighted Juliana Garrido from Chescoved’s commercial department.

The technical session on the first day concluded with presentations focused on finding solutions to the main operational and technological challenges in the oil and gas supply chain.
