MME Minister Bento Albuquerque visited on Friday (12/04), along with secretary of Electric Energy MME, Ricardo Cyrino and the governor of Roraima, Antonio Denarium, the Government Palace and the facilities of the Monte Cristo thermoelectric plant of the Oliveira Energy company, an important source for the energy supply of the state.

Last Thursday (April 11) participated in the event "Linking Brazil, developing the States", where he spoke about the priority in the supply of energy to the State of Roraima.

"At this point I can not fail to record how much this Ministry is attentive to the supply of energy to the State. We are working hard to ensure the same quality and stability of the electric power supply that occurs throughout the Brazilian electrical system, "he said when speaking about the effort to license the transmission line that will connect Boa Vista to Manaus - Linhão de Tucuruí.

The line has a total length of about 721 km, in double circuit, of which about 123 km will be installed inside the indigenous Waimiri Atroari land. Some 1,440 towers will be implanted, mostly along the BR-174 highway.

He recalled that the MME anticipated and, after recommendation of the Monitoring Committee of the Electric Sector, prepared the electric system of Roraima with local thermoelectric generation with sufficient quality and quantity to meet the state, guaranteeing the stability and security for the energy service.

He also said that for August 2019, an increase in thermoelectric generation of 28.5MW is expected. This expansion will guarantee the maximum demand, totaling 245MW of local thermoelectric generation.

Another important action of the MME is the auction of new generation sources for Roraima, seeking to replace the current diesel generation by renewable sources. 156 projects are already registered for the auction, scheduled for May 2019.

The new generation sources will have a lower cost, contributing to the reduction of fossil fuels in the electric matrix and reinforcing the concepts of sustainability. Renewable energy production is expected to start in 2021, when the National Electric System Operator (ONS) will start operating the Roraima system, another important coordinated action made possible by MME.
