Petrobras, Prefecture of Santos city, University of São Paulo (USP), State University of Campinas (Unicamp), São Paulo State University (UNESP) and Technological Park Foundation Santos signed on last Friday (14), a term of commitment to the construction of the Technological Center of Santos (CTBS). The site will feature laboratory infrastructure development oriented research to support the exploration and production of oil in the Santos Basin. The works are estimated at £ 77 million and are expected to begin in eight months and delivery in 2016.
"By 2018, the country's production is expected to reach 3.2 million barrels a day and half will be the pre-salt. The goal is to increase the national production by 2020 to 4.2 million barrels per day. The great depth and distance from shore will bring great challenges and CTBS will fully support operations in the Santos Basin to aggregate knowledge and efficiency activities", says the executive manager of Cenpes.
The center of excellence will have laboratory infrastructure with a focus on the integration of various areas related to automation, process optimization, remote management, high performance scientific computing, virtual reality, environmental monitoring and logistics. On occasion, the executive manager of Cenpes also signed the cooperation between Petrobras and USP for the preparation of the executive project.
