Valuing talents, identifying and disseminating competences, with the objective of developing local content, are some of the goals of the Naval Technological Cluster, presented, on 7/7, in Firjan's “Oil, Gas and Naval Webseries”. The meeting was mediated by Karine Fragoso, manager of Oil, Gas and Naval of the federation, who emphasized the international awards received by professionals working in Brazil, which also need to be recognized in the country.

Walter Lucas da Silva, CEO of the Naval Technological Cluster Association - RJ, added that the group aims to give visibility to companies and exchange knowledge. “In the moment of crisis, of war, of pandemic, if we do not have the capacity to do it here, we will be without. The crisis and the need

will make us look inside more and more, ”he said.

According to him, to be strong it is necessary to know each other and establish partnerships. It is important to highlight the projects that the Navy is developing, with local technology content, which, according to Walter da Silva, will leverage the national market and bring a differential very close to foreign markets.

A small business success story was presented by Daniel Adolpho, welding engineer at Arcdynamics Equipamentos. With practically five employees, some from SENAI - including him -, he won a technological dispute with Chinese and Indian giants, after a large American company, from Houston, proposed a challenge: to manufacture a coating welding equipment in Rio de Janeiro similar to the company's existing product and better than the competition.

“From a mold made in a cardboard box, we were able to assemble a system here that is cheaper than the Chinese charged, better than that of the Indians; and we even upgraded the equipment by increasing the longitudinal course, ”he said.

Adolpho emphasized that his company contributed to the local development, in an unprecedented way, since this equipment, which was previously manufactured in Houston, is now made in Nova Iguaçu, in Baixada Fluminense. In addition, he said that his company currently has a considerable level of technological independence.

For Daniel Mendonça, Institutional Relations advisor at Itaguaí Construções Navais (ICN), the regional development work was a watershed for the company. As an example of this project, which seeks values and predicts where they can go, he cited the case of 20 welders from the Itaguaí region who were identified and trained by ICN. These valued talents were taken to France, where they had the opportunity to work on the construction of a nuclear submarine, at the invitation of a French shareholder. “The knowledge management program is very cool, because with it we are able to receive knowledge well and multiply it very efficiently,” he said.

Both ICN and the Technological Cluster presented business opportunities and commented on bidding notices that are currently in the process of receiving proposals.

Firjan's Business Council for Defense and Security maintains the purpose of proposing strategies and actions to increase the participation of the Rio de Janeiro industry in this market and to encourage the industry, which will generate jobs and income, as explained by René Durão, adviser to the Council, who also participated of the debate.
